Current world where we live is surrounded by many threats in various formats including natural threats and caused by humans.
When considering on specific area, some of the above threats may be similar to one another and some may be different with special characteristics based on context of each area, for example, southern border provinces that have to face with special and different threats from other areas in Thailand.
To deal with threats occurred in areas of southern border provinces, some threats can be managed by normal process. However, there are some threats, caused by humans and nature that are unable to be managed through normal management require different management styles performed by appropriate agencies with readiness, rapidity, and disciplines under cooperation with other agencies and sectors for integrating management of these abnormal threats or “crisis” efficiently and effectively These threats have no warnings and they are also hard to be predicted. The recent example of these threats is COVID-19 pandemic.
Therefore, dealing with these abnormal threats that may be caused by nature or humans, can be called as “Unrest and Never Ending Mission”
Abnormal threats caused by humans occurred in southern border provinces are caused by many factors including cultural differences, administration and politics in the past, geographic characteristics, etc. These threats have been continuously occurred almost two decades. However, this conflict seems to be ended soon through “discussing” that may need a period of time.
For complicated threats caused by geographic characteristics due to the location that is the border area located next to neighboring countries, there are many complicated threats occurred including drugs, illegal labors, illegal products, deforestation, human trafficking, and crimes.
From uncertainty, difficulty for controlling, even outside or uncontrollable factors caused by various causes outside southern border provinces or even outside Thailand, the mission to deal with threats occurred in southern border provinces caused by humans is considered as unrest and never ending mission of security agencies and other agencies as well as related sectors.
COVID-19 pandemic is considered as natural threat and severe natural threat in the period of 100 years. Southern border provinces are also considered as areas affected by this pandemic compared to other provinces of Thailand.
Before occurrence of this pandemic, southern border provinces had to deal with natural threats that are regularly occurred based on local geographic characteristics including floods, storm, and others, etc.
As mentioned above that nature is difficult to predict, including COVID-19 pandemic or other natural disasters, related agencies, both directly related agencies and supporting agencies like security agencies, are required to be ready to deal with these natural threats at any time without negligence.
Therefore, the mission to deal with natural threats is one of unrest and never ending mission of security agencies and other agencies as well as related sectors.
Certainly, the mission to deal with abnormal threats caused by humans and nature is considered as difficult mission with the risk of life as mentioned above. As mentioned above, this mission will never be ended.
However, difficulties and risks caused by performing this unrest and never ending mission are unable to be raised as any excuse. On the other hand, related agencies must perform this mission with determination, devotion, and sacrifice because this mission is honored mission that is highly important for survival of Thailand and well-being of Thai people.
