Overall, when we talk about technology, we often see images that are man-made or developed. These objects may be either a piece of work or a method or process to solve problems or meet the needs or increase the human working ability. These mentioned technologies result in a better life for humans.
If we specifically look at technologies in each aspect, for example, technology in the security of life and property, we can presently see that agencies and organizations, whether government or private sectors have created new technology to support the security of life and property. This creation results in significantly increasing the efficiency and the effectiveness of life safety and property measure. However, these technologies are quite expensive and, therefore, difficult to procure under budget constraints.
However, presently, Thailand has an agency called " Defense Technology Institute (DTI)" which is an agency under the supervision of the Ministry of Defense, conducting research and developing defense technology. DTI has conducted research and developed two technology prototypes to support life and property security measures for security agencies working in the south deep provinces.
The technology prototypes discussed above are Centralized Information Systems and Application and Explosive Ordnance Disposal Robot (EOD ROBOT) that have been delivered to the 4 th Internal Security Operations Forward Command (ISOC4 Forward Command) and ISOC Region 4 Front has been tested at the beginning of March 2022.
DTI and 4 th Internal Security Operations Forward Command (ISOC4 Forward Command) Front have jointly initiated two research projects namely 1) “Centralized Information System and Applications and 2) Explosive Ordnance Disposal Robots (EOD ROBOT) since the year 2016 or 7 years ago.
The research and development process starts from jointly formulating research problems, and guideline studies, seeking cooperation with various sectors with the capability and potential to integrate the body of knowledge and experience, testing, experimenting, and evaluating results to achieve the objectives and targets set. Finally, the prototypes have been developed successfully and are ready for delivery in March 2022.
The first model that will help support the mission of safety measures in life and property for ISOC4 Forward Command for example, the monitoring tasks of checkpoints, is the Centralized Information Systems and Applications, which is a system that can monitor and report an incident through the information technology system
The components of this system are:
1) Vehicle license plate verification system for use with mobile phones, smartphones, and ready-to-use Smart Phone prototypes
2) High-efficiency movable vehicle license plate reader system
3) Analysis and display system to support law enforcement or intelligence missions
The second prototype that will help support the mission of security measures in life and properties for 4 th Internal Security Operations Forward Command (ISOC4 Forward Command) for example, the EOD set, is an Explosive Ordnance Disposal Robot.
The composition of the explosive ordnance disposal robot includes:
1) D-EMPIR V.4 Mini Surveillance Robot
2) Noonar V.4 Pocket-sized Surveillance Robot
The research prototypes in both projects were researched and developed by Thai researchers with an understanding based on the principle to meet the needs of the user 4 th Internal Security Operations Forward Command (ISOC4 Forward Command) and create the most benefit to the mission of the user unit, that is, the monitoring mission, law enforcement missions, and intelligence missions.
